Gao Changgong (541–573) was a high-ranking general of the Northern Qi dynasty given a fiefdom in Lanling County, southern Shandong, so he was also known as the Prince of Lanling. He had a beautiful face and feminine physical appearance thus he always wore a terrible mask when he fought in battles. One day he met a girl from the common people. Her name was Mulan.
